Data Collection – Prospective
In sites where prospective data collection is possible, unit clerks and/or healthcare providers will identify eligible patients after they have been triaged, and will flag the charts of enrolled patients electronically or by inserting a brightly colored data collection sheet in the chart which will remainoutside of the patient’s room at all times.
This is to ensure that data elements that need to be collected prospectively that may not otherwise be captured in a retrospective chart review (e.g., date of symptom onset) can be captured. Research assistants will enter information that clinical care providers collect and data from their chart review into a REDCap database.
Each site will enter data directly into the UBC REDCap database using duplicate data entry and descriptive statistics to identify data entry errors. We will monitor field completion rates on a weekly basis to enable research assistants to identify missing data.
